Home reversion calculator
Home reversion is the other main form of equity release. You sell a share of your home to a provider for a cash sum and carry on living there rent free for the rest of your life. It is not a loan and there is no interest. The trade off is that you give up ownership of the share you sell, so your family inherits less of the property.

This is an indicative estimate, not a quote or advice. The age factor used here is an illustrative
market wide assumption, not a specific provider's offer. Because you receive less than the market value of the share
you sell, home reversion suits a minority of people. A qualified adviser will compare it fairly against a lifetime
mortgage before you commit.
The indicative age factor used here
A reversion provider pays you a percentage of the market value of the share you sell. The older you are, the higher that percentage, because your expected time in the home is shorter. The figures below are illustrative market wide ranges, not any single provider's terms.
| Age of youngest homeowner | Share of market value paid |
|---|---|
| 60 | 25% |
| 65 | 30% |
| 70 | 35% |
| 75 | 40% |
| 80 | 45% |
| 85 | 50% |
| 90 and over | 55% |
